Seekt Quick Guide: Multi-Member Teams
Welcome to the Seekt Quick Guide series. In this episode, we are looking at multi-member teams — how to have multiple players on the same team, each using their own phone.
By default, each team in Seekt uses one phone. The team works together in person, but they share a single device for submissions. This is simple and works well for small groups.
But for larger events, you might want three or four people on a team, each submitting from their own phone independently. That is what multi-member mode is for.
You enable it before starting the game from the dashboard settings. Once it is on, the team creation flow changes. One person creates the team and becomes the team captain. Other players can then see that team in the join screen and request to join it. The captain gets a notification on their phone showing each request, and they approve or reject from the team roster screen.
Once approved, each member submits independently. If one player finds a photo item and another answers a quiz, both submissions count toward the same team score. The team roster is accessible during the game and shows everyone's name, with the captain marked by a crown icon.
The captain has a few extra abilities. They can approve or reject new join requests during the game, transfer the captain role to another member, and they are the one who receives safety check-in prompts if those are enabled.
Regular members can leave the team voluntarily at any time. If the captain leaves, leadership automatically transfers to the next member.
One important detail: every device that joins counts toward your hosting plan's device limit, regardless of whether those devices are on separate teams or the same team. A game with five teams of four members each uses twenty device slots. The host's own device is always excluded from the count.
If someone tries to join and the game is full, the host is notified and can upgrade their plan on the spot. The new limit takes effect immediately on the active game.
