Seekt Quick Guide: Joining a Game
Welcome to the Seekt Quick Guide series. In this episode, we are walking through how players join a game in Seekt.
Joining is designed to be fast and simple. The host shares a QR code or a six-character join code with the group. Players open Seekt, tap "Join a Game," and either scan the QR code with their camera or type the code manually. The app looks up the game and takes the player to the team selection screen.
From there, the player creates a new team by entering a team name and their own name. They become the team captain and are taken into the game. If the host has enabled multi-member mode, the player can also request to join an existing team instead of creating a new one. In that case, the team captain sees the request on their phone and approves or rejects it. The player waits on a "Waiting for Approval" screen until the captain responds.
Once in, the player sees a "Waiting for game to start" screen if the host has not started the game yet. When the host starts it, the hunt list appears and play begins immediately.
If a player has been in a game before and closes the app, they do not need to rejoin. The app remembers their active games and shows them at the top of the Join a Game screen. They tap to rejoin and pick up where they left off.
A few things worth knowing. Players do not need to pay anything — joining and playing is always free. Players do not need to create an account — no email, no password, no sign-up. And if the game has reached its device limit, the player sees a clear message explaining that the game is full, and the host is notified so they can upgrade if needed.
